Townhouse 44
townhouse – built
2024 – Kortrijk, Belgium
In the heart of Kortrijk, CDG studio has transformed an outdated, dark townhouse into a bright urban Townhouse. The existing annexes made way for a new architectural volume:
A double-height kitchen references the high interior spaces that characterize the typical interiors of Belgian townhouses. The kitchen is viewing the lush city garden and is defined as the central space to host people. The nearly 6-meter-high glass facade allows sunlight to penetrate deep into the home.
The main bathroom is replaced from the annex to the first floor. An interior window to the double height kitchen brings light into the ensuite bathroom. The floortiles are repeated on the wall on sink height to mimic the authentic paneling of the historic house.
