Project AL

residence – under construction
2024 – Flemish Ardennes, Belgium

The building was at first an ordinary and unremarkable farmhouse. It is renovated to a bright contemporary home that balances modernity with rustic charm. Situated in the serene Belgian countryside, the original building had cramped spaces, small windows and little architectural significance.

The internal space was entirely reimagined, resulting in a modern interpretation of the traditional fermette, characterized by expansive windows and large openings that bring an abundance of natural light into the home and also create stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Inside, the living spaces have been designed in a continuous way, ensuring a seamless flow throughout the home. The kitchen is repositioned as the heart of the house. Warm authentic materials like wood and stone were chosen to complement the new design.

The living area was opened up to the roof, creating an airy space that feels both expansive and intimate.
